Summary. The creative activity in the field of research on the history of Belarusian psychology - Lev Aleksandrovich Kandybovich (1934-2011), Belarusian psychologist was analyzed. The scientific interests and main his works in the field of military psychology, the psychology of higher education, as well as the sources and reasons for turning to the study of the history of Belarusian psychology are analyzed. During the analysis of the biography, Kandybovich found that the main motives were personal interest and the need for a comprehensive understanding of the logic of development of Belarusian psychology, as well as formal administrative factors. It has been established that, along with a situational surge in interest in the history of psychology in Belarus in the 2000s, there have always been several researchers deeply studying this issue. The author’s approach of Kandybovich to the study of the history of Belarussian psychology are analyzed. The primary methodological principles used by Kandybovich in his historical and psychological research are formulated. Some principles - chronological, personality-biographical - are common to most past and psychological works. Also, the author uses the principle that we designated as the “principle of scientific centers.” According to the “principle of scientific centers,” the history of the development of Belarussian psychology was considered not by industry or scientific school, but by the scientific center. The scientific center is distinguished based on geographical and administrative factors and reflects the specifics of the development of psychology in the Republic of Belarus. The issue of the specificity of Belarusian psychology in comparison with the psychology of the USSR and Russian psychology was considered. In the process of scientific understanding of the heritage of Kandybovich, the authors, using a systematic approach, present a structural-level structure of possible aspects of the analysis of the history of Belarusian psychology.  The authors note that the specificity of Belarusian psychology can be considered as a systemic quality, inaccessible to direct observation, and due to factors, such as the close relationship between Russian and Belarusian psychology, as well as features of the national mentality of Belarusians.
